SMS policy
The texts we send, and how to stop them.

Who is texting you
Messages come from Freedom Rides, the car service you booked with. They are sent on our behalf by Twilio, our messaging provider; the one-time codes are delivered by Supabase, the service that runs our sign-in. No one else sends texts using your number.
Freedom Rides is run by the people who drive it, at freedomridesapp.com. Anything about a message you received from us — including one you think you should not have received — goes to our contact form, and a person reads it.
What we send
- One-time verification codes — a numeric code when you book a ride or sign in, so we know the number belongs to you. This is the only text most people ever get from us.
- Ride updates — when a driver is assigned to your ride, when the ride is completed, and when a ride is canceled.
We do not send marketing or promotional texts, and we do not run recurring campaigns, newsletters or sweepstakes over SMS. Every message we send is about a ride you asked for or an account you are signing in to.
How often
Message frequency varies — it depends entirely on how often you ride. In practice that is one message per booking attempt (the code), and up to about three more per completed ride (assigned, completed, or canceled). If you never book a ride, you never hear from us.
How you opted in
You opt in by ticking the consent box on the booking form at freedomridesapp.com/book before you enter your phone number. The box is not pre-ticked and the form will not submit without it. The exact wording you agree to is:
I agree to receive SMS messages from Freedom Rides for ride verification, status updates, and account notifications. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Reply STOP to unsubscribe. Reply HELP for help. See our SMS Policy and Privacy Policy.
We never buy, rent or import phone numbers for messaging, and we never text a number that has not been entered into that form by the person holding the phone.
How to stop them — STOP
Reply STOP to any Freedom Rides text and we stop sending them to that number. You get a single confirmation and then nothing further. STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END and QUIT do the same thing.
One consequence worth knowing: booking needs a code sent to your phone, so once you have opted out you will not be able to book through the app until you opt back in — reply START to the same number, or send us a note.
How to get help — HELP
Reply HELP to any Freedom Rides text and you get an automatic reply saying who we are and how to reach us. That one comes from Twilio rather than from us, which is why it arrives even when nobody is at a desk. Off the phone, support goes through the contact form on this site — a person answers, not a bot.
That is the whole list of ways to reach support, and it is deliberate: a channel is published here only if somebody is watching it. An address on a policy page that nobody reads is worse than no address, because you would write to it and wait.
Carrier charges
Message and data rates may apply — whatever your mobile plan charges for texts. Freedom Rides does not charge you for messages. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages, and delivery is not guaranteed.
Your number, and who sees it
Your phone number is used to verify you, to text you about your rides, and so your driver and dispatch can reach you about a trip in progress. It is handled by the providers that make those messages work — Twilio for delivery, Supabase for sign-in — and by Stripe if you pay by card.
No mobile information is sold, and none is shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. The full picture is in our Privacy Policy.
Changes to this policy
If what we send changes, this page changes first and the date at the top moves with it. Our Terms of Service cover the rest of the arrangement.
